High Knocke to Dymchurch Sea Defences Frontage A
Work Update - 30 September 2009
The Environment Agency has advised DOC that they will be closing the main slipway in Dymchurch for refurbishment; week commencing Monday 5 October 2009.
Also in the week commencing 5 October the EA will start building a temporary beach access ramp from the area by the turning circle on the sea wall. They will secure the central access compound as detailed on the attached map.
This work will include removing and storing, two of the benches from the memorial garden.
The Environment Agency further advises that they have obtained a licence from Shepway District Council to incorporate the gentlemen’s toilets in the central access compound for the Winter period 2 October 2009 to 30 March 2010. (These facilities are normally closed over the winter)
There may be an interim period where the main slipway is closed and the temporary access ramp is not completed.
Should emergency access to the beach be required, the access points from their North Compound by Martello Tower 23; or their South Compound at High Knocke can be made available;
Please contact 07931 450359 to arrange emergency access.
The Environment Agency wishes to apologise for any inconvenience that this essential work may cause the residents; but it is imperative to continue the work on the amenity beach area throughout the Winter period, until Easter 2010.
