DOC meets Parliamentary Under-Secretary – Huw Irranca-Davies MP (Minister for Marine and Natural Environment)
DOC was given an excellent opportunity to present its aims and objectives for sea defence policies on the Romney Marsh directly to the Parliamentary Under-Secretary Huw Irranca-Davies ( Minister for Marine and Natural Environment) , during a ‘Coastal Communities at Risk’ Conference, held at the Institute of Civil Engineers, Westminster on 6 July 2009 , hosted by Coastnet and the CCAG and chaired by Norman Lamb MP.
Coastal campaign groups such as SOS ( Save our Selsey), SCAR (Suffolk Coast against Retreat ) Solent Protection Group, Middleton On Sea Association, Gwent Level Flood Alliance, Cuckmere Valley and many more from all over the country , as well as representatives from the Environment Agency , Natural England, CPRE, National Trust, various Universities, District Coundils and Consultants such as Halcrow , H R Wallingford , Royal Haskoning , together with representatives from the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, The Crown Estate , the Institute of Civil Engineers , Southern Water, Climate South East, the Parliament Office of Science and Technology and other organisations attended and this most successful event .
