Fighting a losing shingle battle!
Time is of the essence to start building the new sea defences for the Romney Marsh as we are fighting a losing battle with the re-shingling . Below is a photographic record from Broomhill, Jury’s Gap and Lydd/ MOD Ranges taken over the last 3 months which shows the movement of shingle and the repeated loss of the material along our beaches despite all the recent EA’s efforts to maintain the shingle bunds by re-shingling.

This loss of shingle and resulting damage caused to the beach profiling during high tides and stormy weather is pretty obvious and points out the vulnerability of our current defences. The implementation of the more permanent solutions proposed by the EA cannot come soon enough in order to protect the Marsh from flooding.
